It Takes A Doctor
Doctors are best suited to be at the center of health care decisions in Ontario. With the general public unaware of the solutions doctors are implementing within their communities to improve patient care, and a new government that needs to be reminded why they must work with doctors on health care transformation, we’ve developed a branding campaign highlighting the real-life examples and expertise of doctors from across the province.

Campaign Overview

The purpose of It Takes A Doctor was to reinforce the value and expertise of Ontario's doctors and showcase the health care solutions they’re creating and implementing within communities across Ontario that are having a real-life impact on patient care.

It takes doctors years to train and they have to make many personal sacrifices to best treat patients and their families. Although the health care system is far from perfect and the challenges are complicated, there is no question that physicians are the trained and experienced medical experts that can help fix a damaged system. From lack of access to care to hallway medicine, it truly takes a doctor to step up and find solutions that best care for patients, and the system that cares for them.

Where the Campaign Appeared

Between October and December of 2018, people in Ontario were reminded that it takes a doctor to best treat them, and the health care system that cares for them.

Through online radio ads, they heard about your relentless approaches to save lives.

In newspapers, they read about the sacrifices you’ve made to bring real-life tangible solutions to their communities.

Online, they understood how doctors go above and beyond to care for them and their loved ones.

Social Media Posts

In 2018, we encouraged you to be proud of the care that you provide for your community by sharing this campaign with your personal and professional social media networks. We developed a selection of Tweets and Facebook posts for you to use.

Have you implemented solutions in your community that are having a benefit on patient care? Did you dedicate time and effort researching and training to help patients? We know there are thousands of great stories about the incredible solutions doctors bring to their communities to better treat and care for patients. We were gratified to see you share these on Twitter using the hashtag #ItTakesADoctor or #ItTakesADoc

Examples:

  • There weren’t enough doctors to treat the number of seniors in my community. So I moved here to start a clinic to help our aging population. #ItTakesADoc
  • I work longer hours each day so that my patients can see me when they need me most. #ItTakesADoctor
  • In the past five years I've started doing more house calls so that patients who couldn’t come in to see me could still get the care they needed. #ItTakesADoctor
